PEACOCK & DRAGON
Told from a pregnant teenager's point of view, this is a little gem. It traverses all emotions, love, despair, hope, and finally love again. Help comes from a very unexpected source, just as the new mother is about to give up everything. It's a story of teenage infatuation, learning to stand up for yourself as an adult, and friendship while telling of the unbreakable bond between mother and child. This short story is simply enchanting, and now officially my favourite short story ever.
THE STRAWBERRY THIEF
A very strong contender and finalist in the "Words" short story contest. It is all too easy to empathise with the characters created by Ms. Worstall, and this story managed to chill my blood in places. There is a touch of the supernatural, and hopefully I'm not giving too much away in saying that good eventually triumphs over evil in a most unexpected way.
LOVE IS ENOUGH
Miss Worstall explores the minds of a young couple, and my sympathies swung first one way, then the other, in this dark short story that cautions us not to try to pre-judge other people's emotions.
